Thank You for Your Support During the One Shot Birthday Bash!

The Matthew Mangine Jr. “One Shot” Foundation wishes to thank every sponsor, donor, volunteer, and participant for supporting the 2024 Annual Birthday Bash! While the numbers are still being tallied, it appears that this year’s event is on track to be the most successful birthday bash to date.

As of October, 33 student athlete deaths that we know of have occurred in 2024. The work of the One Shot Foundation must continue so that more lives can be saved. Parents, siblings, grandparents, best friends, and others should not have to feel the pain of losing a student athlete.

The foundation honors the legacy of Matthew Mangine Jr. by its progress to date:

  • 22,000+ trained in hands-only CPR
  • 100+ AEDs placed in 2023-2024
  • 9,000 people trained in Take10 (2024)

Your ongoing support is needed in order for us to continue to advocate, collaborate, educate, and equip schools and youth athletic organizations with the tools they need to save lives.

One Shot is all we’ve got!

The Matthew Mangine Jr. “One Shot” Foundation is proud to collaborate with the American Heart Association in providing CPR Training Bags to Cincinnati Public Schools. In June 2024, Gov. Mike DeWine signed into law, House Bill 47. School employees would be required to undergo special training on how to use AEDs and recognize the signs of cardiac arrest. Informational sessions for students on sudden cardiac arrest would be required before the start of any athletic season. The measure also calls for the Ohio Department of Health to develop a model emergency action plan for schools, recreational centers, and sports groups to adopt on the use of AEDs.
