The Matthew Mangine Jr. Foundation (MMJF) is uplifting the James Family in prayer as we convey our concerns and empathy following the Cardiac Arrest event that occurred with Bronny James during a USC basketball practice.
Once again, the medical and athletic staff took the right steps to save a life. Sudden Cardiac Arrest episodes are the number one killer of student athletes and on school campuses. Since 2021, The Matthew Mangine Jr. Foundation has been on a mission to promote awareness, education, and medical safety measures of all cardiac related episodes for competitive youth and high school sports. It strives to raise awareness about the importance of properly executing Emergency Action Plans and strongly advocates for expanded use of AEDs along with heat/cold therapy devices. The Emergency Action Plan provides the steps necessary when a catastrophic incident occurs. It’s not a matter of if something will happen, it’s a matter of when. MMJF can never stress enough the importance of the Emergency Action Plan development and rehearsals.
The Matthew Mangine Foundation efforts also include the expansion of the availability of Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) to youth and high school sports teams and organizations. The goal is to safeguard athletes by supplying teams with knowledge and equipment to deliver immediate medical attention, prior to EMS arrival.
You only have one shot to save a life, and every second counts.
